WOW!!!!! it's been a minute since i've touched this site - whoopsie

so a bit's happened - firstly, i'm right in the middle of my year 12 exams. i've already done three - music performance, english, and biology - and i've got three to go, so i'm halfway there!!! i've got two maths methods exams (which if i'm being real i'm throwing) and music theory, and then i'll be done forevers. i am a little scared about that if i'm being fully honest. this is my 13th and last year of school, and it's hard to conceptualise everything being over, yknow? like i'm worried about falling out of contact with a bunch of friends. i know that if i just messaged people that wouldn't happen, but i'd feel a bit weird starting cos i haven't been doing that. idk, it just feels weird. like our graduation celebration is in 16 days. what the fuck

ANYWAYS!!!!i also turned 18 a couple months ago. YIPPEE 🎉🎉🎉 i feel pretty much the same but i am legally an adult now. wack amarite.

there's not really much else i can say off the top of my head. everything feels a bit strange atm - it's bizarre. i am THIS 🤏 close to being done with school and i don't really know how to feel. but we stay silly :3

WELL. i haven't touched this for a sec have i. WHOOPS!!

anyway there's a bit to catch up on. FIRSTLY, that show i was talking about last time went super super well and the show ruled and i got a free shirt!!! it was the last of that print they had and they weren't even selling it but i got it FOR FREEEE and it fits perfectly :D the photos also came out killer too ^-^

it's actually been long enough since i've updated this that we've done another show - the friday just gone was the third!! there was meant to be a show the week before, but they had to pull out and cancel a bunch of other gigs because their singer got sick and lost her voice entirely. so instead the performing arts team threw together a student-led show with one of the student bands headlining. they were fucking AWESOME - their singer has such a good singing voice it's insane. what's even cooler though is that the singer appiled to this youth-music thing (i'm still not entirely clear on what it is tbh) and they need photos of her performing - AND GUESS WHO'S PHOTOS THEY'RE USING!!!!! i'm pretty stoked about this, this is gonna be the first time my photos are gonna be used in something outside of school, which is just. so swag. we've also alrady got another show lined up on the 15th - they're a metal band, so taking the photos should be fun >:]

i was actually looking at the first few photos i took back in march and i can tell that i've gotten so much better, even though this is really only my third time doing this properly (i did technically take photos once for an open-mic night last year but that was with a camera i didn't know how to use and a lense that couldn't zoom for shit so they all came out kinda mid). i'm pretty proud of myself for that.

in other news, school is still happening in the background. we're up to term 3 now, and next term we're gonna be having our exams, which i'm both looking forward to and also not looking forward to. on one hand once they're done that'll be it, and i'll be done with school. but on the other hand i don't think i'm gonna perform great on them - maths methods especially. that is kicking my ENTIRE ass rn. but after the exams i won't ever have to think about it ever again, which is good.

other than that though, i'm doing pretty alright in school. recently i got a 95% on a poster for biology and that'd be my highest mark all year - iirc bio's my best subject overall. i'm having a lot of fun with it. bass is going really well too - i don't think i ever said it anywhere, but i picked up bass around february this year and i've improved a lot!! we're learning a song called chromatic fantasy and we're also getting my slap skills down - apparently i picked up the right technique really fast which makes me feel good :]

drums has also been going well - i've been doing that for about 11 years, so you'd hope i'd be good by this point. but for some reason recently i've really tightened up my skills and have just gotten. better. my drum teacher was telling me a couple lessons ago that i've been improving a lot, which made me feel really good about myself. idk where i'm going with this i'm just very very happy with myself recently.

school's just started back up from holidays and now we're in term 2, which is alright but i didnt do some of the holiday homework that was set and lowkey im stressing. it'll be alright but. bwegh.

on a more positive note, there's another show lined up!! on may 3rd - so about 3 weeks away!! and this one'll be interesting because our music group will be opening (or one of the openers - there might be a second band), which means that i get to play and im excited about that, but i also obviously won't be able to take photos for us, since i'll be drumming the whole time. i'm hyped regardless, it should be fun - and better yet they're doing a workshop before the show and part of that workshop will probably be photography, AND one of the band members is apparently a professional photographer. so the photos from then should be super good B]

also i didn't realise it'd been a month since ive touched the site. whoops. there are a few things i want to do with it, especially on the main page - the text especially i need to redo, it's been there long enough. i'll get around to that soon probably 'o_o

this week has been super awesome for me - basically, my music teacher managed to get a local-ish band to come down and do a gig at my school (which is fucking rad as all hell) and thankfully everything went to plan and they did their show tuesday. the show itself was awesome and their energy was great!! they were also just super nice people as well, which is always a bonus. anyway, i offered to take some photos of the show so that my teacher could post them to the schools (soon-to-be) music instagram page and also the school newsletter probably. thats cool and about the limit of what i was expecting - BUT not only did the band like the photos i showed them once they had finished onstage so much that they wanted to post some to their instagram, but they also paid me fifty (50) dollars!!!! which is crazy!!!!!! i was not expecting that in the slightest.

all in all, i'm super proud of the photos i got. some of them are just okay, but others are absolutely insanely good. the tip of "take way more photos than you'll think you'll need" really paid off - i genuinely blew it out of the park with some of the photos i got imo. there's definitely ways i could improve, but this was also my first time doing gig photography so i'm just impressed with how good they came out. i'm dying to post some of the photos or even just say what band it was, but i feel like thats a bit too close to doxxing myself, so. shouldn't do that 0,_0

so yeah. i'm a god at gig photography B)

well i realised what i was doing wrong in regards to nested sections - i was making [custom] elements instead of [div class="custom"] elements. that would explain the [p] elements not working as intended, div elements are the nested ones and custom elements arent. whoops! anyways, updated the main page and also this page with new div elements. nothing too fancy but im happy i figured that out >_>
